Happy Birthday Kiptyn and Kylie!

Kiptyn,

I am a day late, but I was preparing for your party. I wanted to wish you two a happy first birthday! We are so proud of how far you have come. You are such a big boy now! You can crawl so fast, we can barely catch you! You are such a fearless little boy, you are going to make us work hard to keep up with you and your adventures. I am ready for it! You have come so far from a little tiny 6 pound 9 ounce baby! You are the light of our days, your smile just makes everything so much better. Thank you for being such a joy to our lives. We look forward to the little boy that you will turn into and can't wait to hear what you sound like when you start talking our ears off! Mommy and daddy love you so much and we are so glad to have you as our lil boy. Happy 1st Birthday! xxoo

Love,

Mommy and Daddy

Kylie,

Happy first birthday our sweet angel. We hope that you had a great party up there with all your family and friends. We also hope you joined us for your party here. We really hope you got to experience a cake like your brother did! We miss you so much, but there isn't a day that goes by that we don't think about you. We wish you were still here with us, but we know that you are just in another way. We wish that you could play with your brother and sister, we would love to see how you all interacted. We wonder if you would be walking, as fearless as your brother, or even as big as he is! We think that your smile and laugh would be just as cute and entertaining truly as Kiptyn's. I hope that you are watching over us and making sure we are all safe. You are our lil angel and our baby girl. You always will be. We miss you and hope that you are well taken care of up there looking down on us. Happy 1st birthday baby girl. xxoo

Love,

Mommy and Daddy

Easter

Of course we went to see Kylie on her first Easter. We decorated her plot with fun Easter things. Haley enjoyed sticking the eggs on sticks in the ground for her. She says hi to her every time we drive by. Here are some pictures from that day.

Haley checking out all the eggs!

The first Easter bib that Kiptyn wore earlier in the day. She should've been here wearing it in person. :(

17 weeks later....

We are surviving. Just last Thursday we met with Dr. Weinstein about the autopsy results. They came back 16 weeks later. Thursday is just one crazy day for us apparently. They were born on a Thursday, she left us on a Thursday (11 weeks later), and we got the autopsy results on a Thursday. Anyways, they basically said that she had pneumonia, bronchialitis (otherwise known as RSV which is what Kiptyn got diagnosed with 2 days later) and had aspirated. They left her cause of death as undetermined.
In some ways we are relieved and in others we are more guilty. We were worried about Kiptyn the whole time, especially as 2 days before we took him to the doctor. I guess we should've had her in the doctor too the same day. But we can't go back and change time, even though we wish we could.

She will always be in our hearts and not a day goes by that we dont think about her.

Kiptyn with RSV

Since I haven't gotten around to doing much posting and I just uploaded pictures on my laptop from Jan. I thought I would do a post of Kiptyn getting his first neb treatment at the doc office and then pics of him during his 5 day hospital stay.

This is him and the pic is supposed to be horizontal, but it's not working with me today. You can still see his cuteness this way though!

Look at the cool fish mask! He didn't mind it at all! This was two days prior to his being in the hospital.

This is him sporting his sexy hospital gown.

Of course I'm not sure if I want to continue this blog or start a new one for Haley and Kiptyn and keep this one for the memories of Kylie. Who knows. One day I guess I will figure it out!

We lost our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, goddaughter Kylie

I can't believe that I actually have to do this post just after posting her two months stats, but I have to and I am. :( She passed very early Thursday morning. Haley woke us up after 3 hours of us sleeping and LT went to check on the twins. He found Kylie and she was unconscious and her lips were already blue. He tried doing some version of CPR and I dialed 911 and they talked him through it while I threw on some pants and ran downstairs to open the door and lock up the dog. I sat on the porch weaping, hoping and praying that a miracle would happen. The ambulance showed up and rushed inside and then came back out with her a minute later. I tried calling a dear friend and then my parents in Florida to let them know. Then went upstairs to call a neighbor to watch Haley and Kiptyn while LT and I went to the hospital. There were cops there and making sure we got what we needed out of the bedroom so they could lock and secure the room. We flew over to the hospital where I was greeted by the social worker and she took me back to see her while LT parked the car. When I got there the doctor came out and told me that there was no heart activity. I went into see her still sobbing and they were still preforming CPR on her. LT then came in and the doc again told us there was no heart activity. He checked it one more time while LT and I were both in there and there was still nothing. He pronounced her at 4:37am. Where we both just stood there sobbing. We then just held her in our arms and wept. It was the worst feeling in the world. We took her foot and hand prints and then did a mold of one foot and one hand. We held her until the detective came in and wanted to talk with us about the past 24 hours. Which of course was not easy as it has been treated like a crime scene. We got back to the house about 7:30 where they took stuff from the bedroom and took pictures. We then went to get Kiptyn and Haley to get ready to take Haley to school. After that we took Kiptyn to the doctor to have his congestion checked out. Dr. Weinstein has been awesome since the day we walked in there. He gave us the signs to look for if Kiptyn was having labored breathing and we just talked. He gave us some resources as well. After leaving there we went back to the house to pack some things up to take over to my parents house. The pastor came over and then a bunch of LT's family and Alyssa. The neighbor brought us lunch as well. We got to my parents house at some point and it went from there. LT took a little nap and I got to shower.
Later in the evening, we were worried about Kiptyn's breathing, so we called the on call doc and after talking with her we decided it would be best to just take him into the hospital to be checked out. She called Fairfax to let them know we were coming, but after we got off the phone we decided it would be best to go to Fair Oaks. We called her back and she said she didn't have the numbers there to call in advance. However when we got into the ER room the doctor came in right away and gave her condolences. Everyone treated us wonderfully.

Will update in another post about Kiptyn.

Kylie--Mommy, daddy, Haley and Kiptyn love you with all our hearts and you will always be in our hearts. You will always be with us and watching over us. We thank you for a wonderful 11 weeks that you shared with us and cherished every moment. May God watch over you and protect you. Hugs and kisses. You have touched so many lives in the short time you were with us, you were such a wonderful daughter, sister, granddaughter and goddaughter. We all love you.

2 month check up

Wow, time sure does fly! They will be 10 weeks on Thursday. They are doing great according to the doctor. Here are the details on each of them.

Kiptyn:
Weight--12 pounds 12 ounces 75th percentile
Height-23.75 inches 75th percentile
Head-39.37 cm just under the 50th percentile

He is also going to go on Prevacid for his reflux and upping his zantac in the evening. Also he will go on Mylanta for the gas. He suggested him sleeping on his right side to help empty his stomach.

Kylie:
Weight--11 pounds 9 ounces 74th percentile
Height--22.75 inches 70th percentile
Head--28.1 cm 25th percentile

Her zantac dose is going to stay the same and she will also be getting the Mylanta after feedings. We also need to make the bottles really thick so it stays down.

They both got 3 shots and one oral one. They both screamed their lungs out, but settled well. Big sister Haley was very concerned about them crying during their shots.

We go back in two months. Pictures to come as they are on my cell phone, so it will take a while to get them off of there!

First post of 2010!

Happy New Year! Happy Birthday LT!!

We went to Frostival today and used the Escalade of strollers as LT puts it for the first time. They slept the entire time and ate once all while Haley played.
