Last weeks peri appt

Last Thursday I had another peri appt to check the fetal weights of the twins. They both look great. I won't have as many details this time because I didn't get the paper to take to Dr Forrest, so I didnt get a copy of it. But baby girl is 2 pounds 2 ounces and baby boy is 1 pound 14 ounces. Both in great percentiles apparently. They also have a good amount of fluid around them. So it was a quick appt until I asked if coughing shortens a cervix. So better to be safe than sorry they checked my cervix again. It had shortened to 4.5 from last weeks 6.3, but it was still in the safe zone. Since my next OB and peri appts arent for another two weeks I would rather have them check it since my cough has been getting worse.

I think however that this is getting better and under control after two visits to the GP doc, one on call to the GP doc and two on calls to the OB docs, 5 kleenex boxes, two antibiotics and two cough medicines later! :) And of course over 3 weeks later.

As long as the twins stay put, we are good to go! I don't want to cough and have my water break like it did with Haley. Hopefully this is on the end of phasing out!

Nothing else to report, other than there has been lots of kickboxing going on. You can actually see the kicks from the outside now.

Till next time.

OB appt.

Went great! Other than the fact that there was no air circulation in the little tiny rooms and I was sweating like crazy. Then to add to it, Haley poops right before the doc came in! Sorry Dr. Forrest, ha! :) He never received my report from the peri, so he asked what they said. I told him my cervix length and he was impressed! He said average is 4-5cm. Yea, I don't just have an average cervix! ;) He stressed again not to do anything that wasn't necessary. He also said that since I am doing so well, he doesn't need to see me every two weeks, we can go every 3 weeks. Keep up the good work, he says! I think I will do my best!

Oh and I passed my glucose test and I am not anemic. I lost a pound in two weeks and my blood pressure was good. My belly was measuring 32 weeks...no wonder I feel huge! :) And to think it's only going to get worse.

Till next weeks fetal weight check.

25 week appointment with the Peri

Today, I dropped Haley off with Arria at her moms house which is closer to the hospital and went on my way to Fairfax Hospital to see the peri. Today was just a cervix check to make sure it was still long and closed. I figured it would be a quick ultrasound and it was. It didn't take long at all, I waited longer than anything, as usual. She first did the belly u/s and check the babies heartbeats and the amount of amniotic fluid around them and all that good stuff. She said they looked great and were very active. She was even nice enough to take some fun pictures for me. I should have asked her to get one of the boy parts since we dont really have a good one, but oh well. Maybe next week I will get her again. She was very nice. Then she did the cervix check and it was even longer than two weeks ago! :) Go cervix! She was very impressed. You could see the boys head again pushing against my cervix.
So once I was done and dressed I went back outside to sit and wait for the doctor to call me in. He looked at the pictures and then the report and said everything was great. He said that there are people that would pay for my cervix! ha. I asked him what would be after my appt next week when they check the fetal weights, do they check my cervix again? His responce was, "I highly doubt we will need to check your cervix again unless you are having contractions or something."

The heartbeats were 141 and 147 and their amnio fluids were 6.1 and 6.3 or something around that. He said anywhere from 2-8 is normal. Baby boy is still head down and baby girl was still transverse with her bottom down. Their feet are in the same spot basically, so this is why I feel kickboxing in the same area!

Here is baby boy, side view. They were both facing my back, so she couldn't get a picture of their faces that was good.

This is baby girls face and hand, if you can see it.

And again baby girl facing down with her spine.

This was my 24 week belly shot, so last week.

I have my OB appt tomorrow, so if he says anything exciting, I will update then. If not then it will be next week after my fetal weight check at the peri.
Or if we get the nursery done this weekend I will take some pictures.

We have names!

Last Saturday LT and I decided on the names! We are pretty excited about them. They both start with K. The boys initials will be K.D.P.T and the girls will be K.A.C.T. When we decide on permanent spelling of the first names, we might share! hehe. ;)

Our goal this weekend is to put the nursery together. Should be fun. Let's see how much we get done!

The nursery walls....

My project this week while LT and Haley were out of town was to paint the nursery walls. Wednesday my dad came over and drew the waves on the walls. Then all I had to do was paint the green around them. Sounds so simple...not so much. The painting around the waves is what took the longest time! Of course he couldn't have made them simple!
Thursday I primed all around the waves and the rest of the wall. It took me forever. It took about 4-5 hours to prime around the waves because I had to use three different size paint brushes. Then after dinner, I rolled the top part of the walls and that only took about an hour. That was the easy part!
Then yesterday, Alyssa came over and helped start the green. It took us a couple of hours to finish the whole first coat of green. I did two coats on the waves though. That way today I only had to do the rolling of the second coat of green and the edges by the ceiling.

It is finally finished, except dad now wants to work on the waves and make them look like real waves. He also needs to paint the bottom of the closet doors blue, since that is not a no odor paint. We are almost there! :) I can't wait to have the pictures hung and see how it all looks together. The crib will be put together when LT gets home, but maybe I can have my dad move the changing table in there for me now as well!

Here are a couple pictures.

This is what you see when you walk in the room. The wall with the window has the darker blue on it, as you can tell. The other two walls are a lighter blue, not white like it looks in the picture.

This is the closet doors that need to have the bottom part painted blue. But you can see that the lighter walls are a light blue compared to the white primer on the closet doors.

I'll post more pictures when we are done! Or closer to done, that is.

19 week u/s pics

Here are the 19 week u/s pictures. Yes, a little late.

Thing one's profile.

Yes, he's a boy! If you can see it, I'm impressed! ha

Thing two's profile.

She's a girl!

23 week appointments

My 23 week appointments with the peri and the OB were on Thursday. They went pretty well, I think. The peri was first thing in the morning, which is the way I like it because I usually don't have to wait too long. The u/s tech was very good. She took all the measurements and made sure that thing one was still a boy. Sure enough he is! There was a clear picture this time of the penis, I asked for a print out of that, but she didnt give me one. :( Then she made me empty my bladder so they could do the transvaginal one to check my cervix. As soon as she put the probe in to measure my cervix all I could see what thing one's head bumping up against the wall. It was pretty funny. She said I had a great closed cervix. Why thank you. Always what you want to hear from someone!
So I went back outside and waited for the peri to call me back. I was only in there with him for 3 minutes if that. He was like you are doing great, the babies look great and your cervix is as solid as a rock. Again, thank you! ha. He told me to come back in two weeks and then again in 10 days after that. I scheduled my appts and left.

I went to the OB about an hour and a half after I left the peri. That was just as easy. I only gained 3 pounds this time, which I am very proud of! He said my blood pressure was fine, my urine was fine, everything looked good. He went to use the doppler to find the heartbeats and he couldn't find them, so he gave me the option of going to the sonogram room or just leaving, since they were already heard that morning. I chose to see them again on sonogram. They looked so much better on his sonogram than the one earlier. But still no picture. He said he was a little worried about there being a little too much amniotic fluid around the babies, but he said better too much than too little at this point. However, the cause of too much amniotic fluid is gestational diabetes. I am going to get tested on Tuesday, so I hope that all turns out well! Yikes.

Here are the latest stats of the babies.

Thing One:
--head down this time
--measuring exactly 23 weeks
--weighing 1 pound 4 ounces
--heartrate of 138
--6.9 cm of amnio fluid
--in the 45th percentile for weight!

Thing Two:
--started out breech, then moved to transverse again
--measuring exactly 23 weeks
--weighing 1 pound 4 ounces
--heartrate of 148
--7.96 cm of amnio fluid
--in the 50th percentile for weight!

Cervix was 5.3 cm. Which was better than last time!

They appear to be doing great, so let's keep our fingers crossed that they stay like that!

Oh and the important information is that we have a c section date!!

Their birthdays will be November 19, 2009. :) Let's hope they make it!!

Still no progress on names, we have't even talked about them. One day.

All for now. I will post their 20 week pictures now.

Busy busy

I have been wanting to put in about my appts on Thursday, but I have been so busy painting and trying to get the room done, I have had no energy to be on the computer at night! Rare, of course.

However all the good info is in the car, so it will have to be added at a later date. I am going to take some pictures of the room today as well, and the last u/s pics and hopefully put them all on there today.

In the meantime, I am going to eat some breakfast and maybe find a movie to watch today as well. Till later.

Freedom awaits me!

I'm not sure if I am excited or sad. I will miss my lil Haleybun, but it will be nice to have a little break. I have so many things I want to get done though. I'm also afraid that I will get nearly nothing of that list done because of lack of motivation and just being tired. It's hard work carrying around two babies! :) I already have packed days for the most part, which is good and bad! Main goal number one is to paint and finish the nursery! By finish I mean having the walls finished and all the toys and stuff out of the room. Maybe I will drag the changing table over from Haley's room into there as well. But the crib will have to wait till LT gets back. It needs to be put together and we still need a matress. I am excited to do it though. If it turns out like it should, it will look great! I will try and take some pictures of it when we are done. LT will have the camera though, so it will have to be when they get back. I will update on my progress though.

The exciting news though is that the twins have godparents!! They have all been asked and all said yes!! That is exciting stuff. Oh and their new names will be thing one (the boy) and thing two (the girl). I figured they mise well be something since they will be nameless for quite a while longer. We are still nowhere in the process.
Thing one's godparents will be my brother Eric and his soon to be wife, my soon to be sister in law, Olivia. They called today, so I got to ask them. Olivia was definitely more excited than Eric, but that isn't surprising!
Thing two's godparents will be Ted (Theo as I have called him) Goldberg, like another brother to me. He has known me since I was born along with his parents, but we definitely faught like brother and sister growing up! And her godmother will be Elaine Evgeniadis, my freshman year college roomie at Drexel. Of course we became great friends after so much bonding time of living together, and she left on the weekends, so that kept it sane! ;) But I think that they will both be great godparents to thing two. We are definitely excited that they decided to accept the offer! :)

Nothing else happening. I have my monthly u/s with the peri on Thursday as well as my next OB appt. It will be a busy morning. After this I will now be going every two weeks to see Dr. Forrest. Lucky him! ha. I will update more after my two appts. Till next time.
