Last post in 2009!

I am super exhausted to do a long post for tonight, but I figured I would do one last post for 2009.
The twins did go the doctor today and Kiptyn now weighs 10 pounds 10 ounces and Kylie now weight 9 pounds 12 ounces! They are getting big! They have also become more alert, which is fun. They love looking at all the Christmas lights on the trees.
Today they were put on Zantac and will have rice cereal added to their bottles. I hope this helps them with all the pain they have been having. Maybe they will also sleep longer! :) That's my favorite part. ;) We are also on trying our 5th formula....I think I am keeping all companies in stock with trying all these different types.

This was Kylie yesterday, 12/31, before she had a blowout diaper! ha. This outfit was from Auntie E, her godmommy, which is why I was taking the picture!

This is Kiptyn pimping out his suit for Eric's wedding on 12/27. He was the best dressed man there, sorry Eric!

All for now, I will post soon with all the recent events that happened the last couple weeks. Happy New Year from all 5 Trieu's!

One month old!

Yesterday, they were one month old! I can't believe it! They are both doing great and eating like champs! Last time they went to the doctor for a weight check Kiptyn was 7 pounds 1 ounce and Kylie was 6 pounds 13 onces. We go back on Thursday for another weight check before their 2 month appt. They are good sleepers as well. Last night Kylie went from 9pm-1am and Kiptyn from 9pm-2am! Kiptyn is up to 5 ounces most feedings and Kylie is still at about 4 ounces.

Another one of her poses.

Kiptyn in the santa hat!

We are getting ready for Christmas, but only with our clothes. We have no decorations up at all this year. It is quite depressing and I already feel guilty about it. The plan was to have blue and pink lights on the tree for their first Christmas, but it doesn't look like it is going to happen. :( Sorry kids.

I have been taking pictures of them in their numerous outfits for all of the events coming up in two weeks. But I can't post them yet because I'm not sure which ones I will use for a new year card.

First bath

Today the twins had their first baths. Kiptyn didn't enjoy his very much at all, he screamed the whole time. We did manage to make it without getting peed on though! Kylie didn't mind hers, but still screamed part of the time. They both fell asleep after wards.

Thanksgiving Weekend

Their first Thanksgiving has come and gone. They were exactly two weeks old too! We spent most of the day at home and then headed to Mimi and Papi's house for dinner. Their cousins came over to visit them for a little bit.

As soon as we got to Mimi and Papi's we sat down to eat. Kiptyn and Kylie spent dinner time in the bay window in their boppies until it was time for them to eat.

Then we spent the next couple days hanging over at their house. It was pretty uneventful.

Updates

Last week we went for another weight check and saw the doctor we see with Haley. Kiptyn was 6 pounds 4 ounces and Kylie was 6 pounds 1 ounce. So they are getting back up to their birth weight, but still not there. He put us on a stricter calorie diet, so they have to get more formula now. I've been adding to breastmilk. They also had to have their bloodwork for the state redone. We are still waiting for results of that to come back.

We took Kiptyn in on Friday because he sounded really bad when trying to sleep and breathe. Turns out that it is just normal newborn congestion. Poor guy. However, on Friday he was at his birth weight! :)

We go again on Wednesday for another weight check. In which, I will ask them about Kylie's spit up issues. It's like Haley all over again. No fun.

First family outing

Yesterday, we went on our first family outing, not to the doctors! We went to Costco, where the kids and I sat in the car. Then to Kohl's where I went in this time to buy some clothes for them with a free $10! Then we all went into Target. The twins rode in their Cadillac and Haley in the shopping cart, LT and I both pushed one. Everyone kept staring at them and saying how tiny or how cute! They slept the entire time and then I fed them in the car while Haley and LT shopped BJ's. It was an interesting time! And tiring of course, but we survived.

No pictures from it, but here are some recent pictures of them while at home.

Jaundice update

Kylie's jaundice level went down at the last check, so she is getting better! When we weighed her that day, it was the same as the day before.

They are both still a little yellow, but I think they are getting better! They aren't as sleepy as they were before and they are eating like crazy! All good signs of course.

Finished nursery

Here are some pictures of the finished walls of the nursery. I didn't take the whole room because it is still a mess and being put together!

Weight check appt.

Today we went back to the doctor for a weight check and bilirubin check. They did well other than being hungry again once they were stripped of their clothes! Kiptyn went up to 6 pounds 3 ounces and Kylie went up to 5 pounds 12 ounces. Kiptyn's bilirubin levels went down to 15 and Kylie's went up to 17.5, so she needs to be checked again tomorrow.

After the appt we went to pick up Haley from Kerry's house. The twins got to meet all their big sisters friends! Even though they slept through the entire time we were there!

Kiptyn and Kylie share the same birthday as Brooke and Audrey, so we thought it would be fun to get a picture of the two sets of twins together.

First doctor appt

Kiptyn and Kylie had their first well visit today at the doctor! It was an adventure as it was the first time leaving the house with all three kids. It was a fun task trying to get three kids dressed, diaper bag packed, kids in car seats and out the door! But we managed, just not on time. LT left to take Haley to class and then came back. The doctor was an hour behind, so good thing we were late. They called us back and I had to get them both undressed so they could be weighed. That is when they both started screaming because they were hungry. What fun! But they had an extra nurse helping me, which was nice. They got measured and weighed and then we had to wait for the doctor. During the screaming fest, LT came which helped the feeding process. Other than that things went well. They got their bilirubin checked again and they were both 17, which is high. We go again tomorrow for a weight check and blood. Here are their stats from today.

Kiptyn:
--Height 20.25 inches 75th percentile
--Weight 5 lbs 13 oz 5th percentile

Kylie:
--Height 20 inches 70th percentile
--Weight 5 lbs 9 oz 4th percentile

Birth Story

I left the house about 10am to take Haley to Chantilly library for a play group. I pulled into a parking space and went to reach for my purse from the floor on the passenger side and all of a sudden I hear a little pop and then feel gushes of water. So I quickly call my mom to meet us at the hospital. Then call LT to have him get on the next train so my parents can pick him up from the metro. The third call was to my doctor as I was already driving out of the library parking lot. They of course said to go straight to the hospital, which I was already doing. I just was trying to think of the best way to get across town without hitting traffic. Luckily 66 did not have any traffic. Haley was crying in the backseat because she saw that we were leaving the library. I make it to the hospital only to find out my parents are sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on Braddock Road not moving. I didn't know what to do at that point. I get out of the car and feel more gushes and everything started going down my pants and into my shoes. There was nobody outside to help me, so I asked this lady to get some help for me while she was walking in. The lady comes out with a wheelchair and I told her I had Haley in the car, so she left me standing there with wet pants and shoes and goes inside to check. Five minutes later she comes back out and says to bring Haley with me, they are going to take me straight upstairs. She wheeled me to up labor and delivery registration and got all my information and got me registered. However because I had Haley they couldn't take me anywhere, so I just had to sit there with the contractions until my parents got there for Haley. Haley was walking around the little area playing with the rabbits on the counter. Of course she pooped as we were sitting there. There wasn't much I could do about it however because I had nothing with me other than my wallet, cell phone and car keys. I called my parents and they were stuck in traffic still, so I called Lisa to see if she could get there faster and she was nice enough to try it. My parents finally were almost there, so I had Lisa turn around. Dad dropped mom off to get Haley and then he went to get LT who was already at the metro station. She finally came upstairs about 11:25. I had gotten to the hospital about 10:45. I kissed Haley goodbye and she left with grandma and they wheeled me back to the c-section prep area.

34 week belly

Yes, it is getting scarier as the weeks go by! Of course I am 36 weeks today and haven't taken that picture yet! One of these days. I will also update hopefully tomorrow about this weeks appts.

35 week appt

Since I missed doing last weeks 34 week appts, I will post about both. Nothing exciting happened really. Just the normal, NST, fluid check, tummy measure, urine check, etc. All were fine. The babies have plenty of fluid around them and their heart rates were fine. My tummy was measuring 42 weeks.

Yesterdays 35 week appt. Same thing, non eventful. NST was fine, fluid check was fine and heart rates were fine. I was only in there an hour this time! I of course got Mr. Personality doctor again! It's always so much fun talking with him. ha.

Next week is a weight check, since I talked Mr. Personality into it and another NST. Until then..

33 week appt

I had another NST today and the babies kept jumping off the monitors..so the nurse and I had to hold it in position the whole time! What fun. At least she was fun to talk with! ha. I ended up having one contraction in the 35 minutes I was on the monitors. That was interesting, I think I may know what they feel like now.

The u/s went well, other than Kiptyn being his stubborn self! Kylie likes to show herself off for these things, so its kinda funny. They are both breech and we got a good picture of their heads together. Kylie was actually looking at Kiptyn! Kiptyn was facing my back, so it was hard to get a picture of his head. Here are the stats this week:

Kiptyn:
--breech, still on my left
--heartrate 155
--amnio fluid is 6.0 cm
--measuring in at 4 pounds 10 ounces
--in the 44th percentile

Kylie:
--breech, still on my right
--heartrate 132
--amnio fluid is 7.3 cm
--measuring in at 4 pounds 14 ounces
--in the 55th percentile

All in all we are still doing well. :)

Oh and some bad driver (biting my toungue for worse words) parked too close to me in the parking garage and I couldn't get into the car. I had to climb through the passenger side. Not happy.

The nursery is coming along however. Pictures to come when it's done...who knows when that will be however. I can't seem to find an arrangement I am happy with.

Till next weeks appt details!

I will get the pic of the heads together uploaded at some point too!

Kylie pictures at 30 weeks

At 30 weeks Kylie was great about showing off herself. Kiptyn however was not! So we only got 3 pictures of Kylie.

Here is her profile. Nose, lips and chin, where the arrows are.

And of course her girl parts!

32 weeks

Time is still flying by! Even my OB couldn't believe I was 32 weeks already!

Well I had my normal two check ups this week. I also had my first NST and they passed with flying colors! :) I had no contractions and the babies cooperated and moved around wonderfully.

I did gain 3 pounds in two weeks though.

Now for the stats:

Kiptyn:
--transverse position, bascially curled up in a ball on my upper left side
--amnio fluid is 4.9cm
--heartrate 161 bpm

Kylie:
--vertex position or head down, she is knocking on my cervix door!
--amnio fluid is 5.9 cm
--heartrate 130 bpm

Cervix is 5.0-5.2 cm long and closed! Of course again I had to hear it was nearly unheard of to have a cervix of a 5 at 32 weeks!

So basically we just keep hanging in there. I go back to the peri weekly now for NST's and next week they will do another fetal weight check.

Dr. Forrest said that he doesn't think I need the NST's, but I am going to call my insurance and just make sure they are covered and if not, then I won't do them! He also said that he usually sees patients once a week at this point, but we can stick to two weeks until next time at least. Which is nice. That at least saves me next week I will only have one appt and someone will have to watch Haley because she is not allowed in the hospital or the peri office due to the flu restrictions. :(

Which brings up another point, Haley won't be able to meet the babies in the hospital. She will have to wait till they come home. :( Its very sad. She may be able to see me in the lobby if my nurse OK's it first. Talk about making a transition harder.

All for this week.

30 week tummy

I of course was late taking pictures so this is actually 30 weeks and 4 days! As you can see the belly has grown a ton!

30 weeks!

I made it! Only 8 more to go. Those are going to feel like very long weeks, I'm sure. But the longer they stay in there the better.
I had two appts on Thursday. The first one was the peri, in which I waited longer than being seen of course. They did the u/s and I got some pictures of Kylie, but Kiptyn wouldn't cooperate. The u/s tech was trying so hard to get a picture of him for me, but couldn't even get his foot. She was also trying to get a picture of his boy parts, but the lil man was already playing with himself. He had his hand wrapped around it! I couldn't believe it! Oh my. But she took her measurements and it seemed to take forever because it was so hot in the room, I was sweating and felt like I was going to pass out. I'm not sure if it was from being on my back or the heat, maybe even both.

I had to wait to be seen then by the doctor, which I waited for 30-35 minutes. Of course I knew I was only going to be in there for two minutes like I always am, so it was pissing me off! I also was going to be late for me OB appt. He of course said everything looked great, and he was shocked at how long my cervix was. He had never seen that before with twins. This was a new doc that I hadn't seen before, so I of course had to hear about my cervix again! Then he told me to come back in two weeks for a cervix check, fluid around the babies and an NST (non stress test).

Here are the stats on the babies:

Kiptyn:
--breech position on my left
--6.1 cm of amnio fluid around him
--heartrate 153 bpm
--estimated fetal weight is in the 59th percentile
--approx. 3 pounds 9 ounces
--has a big head according to the u/s tech

Kylie:
--head down (finally) on my right
--7.2 cm of amnio fluid around her
--heartrate 138 bpm
--estimated fetal weight is in the 52nd percentile
--approx. 3 pounds 8 ounces
--was definitely not shy in showing off her parts

Cervix length:
--5.3 cm

I will post the pics we got of her soon.

Then I went onto Dr. Forrests office, however he is in Italy, so I saw Dr. Allen. She said everything looked great. We talked about the upcoming weeks and the circumcision for Kiptyn. At 34 weeks I will be going to them weekly and also getting an NST weekly at the same time.

All for now.

2 months from today....

the twins will already have been born!! :) Let's just hope I make it that far.

In honor of the two month to go mark, I figured it would be a good time to release the names! Most people already know I'm sure because my mother knows....so therefore the whole world knows! ;) hehe. Love ya ma.

The boy will be Kiptyn David Parker Trieu.

The girl will be Kylie Anne Claire Trieu.

There you have them! We are pretty excited about them and can't wait for their arrival. Well we can wait two months! :)

Uneventful pregnancy...not so much

As far as I can say things have been pretty uneventful, but that was my wish especially for a twin pregnancy. However, I seemed to have caught everything else under the sun health wise! It started with the bacterial infection early on, then I caught some sinus infection that has lasted around 2 months. I had to have tubes put in my ears last Thursday because I had so much fluid behind them, I couldn't hear a thing. People would have to scream to me or repeat things 3 times for me to get it. That was the most painful thing I have ever had to deal with too. I cried it hurt so bad. Then just this week, I find out I have blood in my urine and have a bladder infection. My doctor laughed when I asked if I should get the flu shot! He said with the way things are going so far, he would highly recommend it! ha.

But at least I can say that the twins have been fine and are doing well. Thank goodness!

Last weeks appts.

Last Thursday I had another peri appt to check my cervix and the fluid around the babies. It was of course fine. This was the first time I had Haley with me alone, so it was interesting as well. She tried to escape her stroller while I was on the u/s table in the middle of things. That was interesting. I think it will be the last time I take her with me to those appts. She does fine at the OB appts because I dont have her in the stroller and she just plays in the room. Here are the stats from the peri appt.

Baby boy
--in the oblique position with his head on the right and body towards my left (kind of a weird one)
--heartrate was 134
--his fluid was 6.6cm

Baby girl
--is still transverse with her head on my left
--heartrate was 138
--her fluid was 7.79cm, which is apparently slightly increased

My cervix was between 4.8 and 5.3 cm this time, but that is still good!

Heartrates were fine when I saw Dr. Forrest on Friday morning. I was measuring like I am 34 weeks pregnant...no wonder I am in so much pain! ha. He said everything looks great. Of course once again I forgot to ask all my questions that I had for him. Never fails. He did however change my c-secion date to Nov 18th at 9am. He is going to be out of town on the 19th. Excuse me! ha. I prefer the odd number of the 19th, but I guess it'll have to do! That and all kids will have even day birthdays, so it works out. Just LT and I will have odd ones! :)

Here is a belly pic from yesterday, so 28 weeks and 3 days.
I think this is how big I was when I had Haley, but I don't have the pictures on this computer to compare. One of these days I will get them and compare the two.

None of my shirts are long enough now, so it's always fun to try to get dressed in the morning. I wore a dress last week that is not a maternity dress and because my belly is so big, the dress was a little too short! The things I need to worry about now! ha.

We went to a multiples sale this past weekend and got a bunch of stuff for the twins. We got one more bouncy seat, some swaddle blankets, another pack n play sheet, some pacifers still in the package, a push/ride on toy, little foam chairs, a slide for the backyard (obviously not for them anytime soon), and a bunch of stuff for Haley. We are going to the FCMOM one this weekend to see if we can find some more stuff that we have been looking for.

That is all for now. We will share names soon, so be on the lookout! :)

Last weeks peri appt

Last Thursday I had another peri appt to check the fetal weights of the twins. They both look great. I won't have as many details this time because I didn't get the paper to take to Dr Forrest, so I didnt get a copy of it. But baby girl is 2 pounds 2 ounces and baby boy is 1 pound 14 ounces. Both in great percentiles apparently. They also have a good amount of fluid around them. So it was a quick appt until I asked if coughing shortens a cervix. So better to be safe than sorry they checked my cervix again. It had shortened to 4.5 from last weeks 6.3, but it was still in the safe zone. Since my next OB and peri appts arent for another two weeks I would rather have them check it since my cough has been getting worse.

I think however that this is getting better and under control after two visits to the GP doc, one on call to the GP doc and two on calls to the OB docs, 5 kleenex boxes, two antibiotics and two cough medicines later! :) And of course over 3 weeks later.

As long as the twins stay put, we are good to go! I don't want to cough and have my water break like it did with Haley. Hopefully this is on the end of phasing out!

Nothing else to report, other than there has been lots of kickboxing going on. You can actually see the kicks from the outside now.

Till next time.

OB appt.

Went great! Other than the fact that there was no air circulation in the little tiny rooms and I was sweating like crazy. Then to add to it, Haley poops right before the doc came in! Sorry Dr. Forrest, ha! :) He never received my report from the peri, so he asked what they said. I told him my cervix length and he was impressed! He said average is 4-5cm. Yea, I don't just have an average cervix! ;) He stressed again not to do anything that wasn't necessary. He also said that since I am doing so well, he doesn't need to see me every two weeks, we can go every 3 weeks. Keep up the good work, he says! I think I will do my best!

Oh and I passed my glucose test and I am not anemic. I lost a pound in two weeks and my blood pressure was good. My belly was measuring 32 weeks...no wonder I feel huge! :) And to think it's only going to get worse.

Till next weeks fetal weight check.

25 week appointment with the Peri

Today, I dropped Haley off with Arria at her moms house which is closer to the hospital and went on my way to Fairfax Hospital to see the peri. Today was just a cervix check to make sure it was still long and closed. I figured it would be a quick ultrasound and it was. It didn't take long at all, I waited longer than anything, as usual. She first did the belly u/s and check the babies heartbeats and the amount of amniotic fluid around them and all that good stuff. She said they looked great and were very active. She was even nice enough to take some fun pictures for me. I should have asked her to get one of the boy parts since we dont really have a good one, but oh well. Maybe next week I will get her again. She was very nice. Then she did the cervix check and it was even longer than two weeks ago! :) Go cervix! She was very impressed. You could see the boys head again pushing against my cervix.
So once I was done and dressed I went back outside to sit and wait for the doctor to call me in. He looked at the pictures and then the report and said everything was great. He said that there are people that would pay for my cervix! ha. I asked him what would be after my appt next week when they check the fetal weights, do they check my cervix again? His responce was, "I highly doubt we will need to check your cervix again unless you are having contractions or something."

The heartbeats were 141 and 147 and their amnio fluids were 6.1 and 6.3 or something around that. He said anywhere from 2-8 is normal. Baby boy is still head down and baby girl was still transverse with her bottom down. Their feet are in the same spot basically, so this is why I feel kickboxing in the same area!

Here is baby boy, side view. They were both facing my back, so she couldn't get a picture of their faces that was good.

This is baby girls face and hand, if you can see it.

And again baby girl facing down with her spine.

This was my 24 week belly shot, so last week.

I have my OB appt tomorrow, so if he says anything exciting, I will update then. If not then it will be next week after my fetal weight check at the peri.
Or if we get the nursery done this weekend I will take some pictures.
